The 13 word poem

photographs by D.R. Wagner

In this exercise each student created a list of 13 words then passed the list to the person next to them which they then used to create the poem. It was difficult to do because it was so easy to just create a list rather than make something happen to the words.

Lynn Park
Justice, cats, fire, lungs, eyes, shoes, tear, fright, raven, pool, love, gem, clown, prostitute, lute
The pursuit of justice begins with this unexpected catastrophe cats shout, "fire!" screaming out of their lungs eyes filled with hysteria steal raven's hidden shoes tears fright, despair, and sorrow overwhelm, depress and sweep the raven into pool it has lost its love gem of its heart clown points finger to prostitute playing with a lute, who had set the fire. Lynn says:
The entire poem in general doesn't really make sense, but I tried to
 give my best
with the words that I have..
I don't agree that it doesn't make sense...D.R. Wagner

Scrambled Thoughts

Fruit filled, we

Become gathered pigs

In a ring styled circle,

We threw out the dust bunnies which were

Scattered in a shoebox full of ancient diary pages

In ink.

A field portrait is included:

A light house

By the sea

And twigs sprawled out chaotically,

A broken eraser rubs away this precious memory.

Underneath, we discover a unique jewel hidden deep inside

Cereal contaminated

And shaped like a spoon.

This buried hole.

A Sunny Afternoon

A
book to read
Sandwich
A
computer to keep her entertained, her macbook
A little, baby kitty
cat to cuddle now
Don't bring the
dog any closer, cat will run
She has the
house to herself, home all alone
Tree
A
flower like a rose
A
pencil to write her thoughts out
Red, rosy, juicy
apple to munch on
Lying on the green, dewy, wet, smooth
grass
Look at a
cloud
Butterfly!
Whoa,
dragonfly stay away from her yummy apple
Go fly in the
sky, will join you in a while

Shoelace

2. Apple

3. Pizza

4. Nail polish

5. Monkey

6. Farted

7. Pen

8. Ink

9. Airplane

10. Clouds

11. Sock

12. Table

13. Cookie

14. Boy

15. Rock

Today I found a shoelace tied around an

apple.

Next to the pizza in my living

room was some nail polish spilled on the

table. A monkey licked it and

farted,

I walked away and a pen

was there leaking ink of the floor. An

airplane

in the clouds flew by. My purple

sock was missing, I assume it was hiding

under a table. I found a

cookie

left behind by a boy. At

least there was no rock in my shoe.
