Missing Pieces

I have searched
the spaces
that were
empty

And which you
were probably
longing
to be filled

Forgive me
they were shattered
so fragile
and incomplete

Calista Baramki-Azar

Journey

I have dreamed

of stars

that were

so nearby

and which

you most usually

think

are so far

Follow me

they were exciting

so alive

and so clear

Lynn Park

I have dreamed
the wonders of heaven
that were dazzling and beautiful

and which you
were probably
striving to also
see and taste

forgive me
they were glorious
so awesome
and so divine

Prabhjot Nijjar
I have found the earrings
that were hidden
behind the door

And which you
were going to
throw away

Forgive me
They were pretty
so green and nice

Dillon Shaw
Dirty Dishes

I have forgotten
the dishes
that were
dirty

And which you
were hoping
I
would clean

Forgive me
they were frightening
so greasy
and foul

Gregory Tam

I have opened
the presents
that were
in the closet

And which you
were probably
saving
to open later

Forgive me
They were fun to open
So shiny
and new.

Nancy Pulciano

You Once,

I have seen
the people
that were
happy

And which you
were once
as
well

Forgive me
They were true
so real
and unreal

Nicole Yang

Plucking Apples

I have plucked
the apples
that were dangling
from your tree

and which
you were hoping
would ripen
for spring

Forgive me
they were golden
so juicy
and so crisp

Allison Ferrini

I have broken
the spoons
that were
on the counter

and which you
were probably
going
to use

Forgive me
they were fragile
so thin
and white
Katelyn Decoste

I AM LETTING YOU KNOW

I have discarded
the pictures
that were in
our album

And which you
were probably
saving
to remember me

Forgive me
They were old
so unattractive

and so useless.

Errin Hadnot

I have imagined
the stars
that were
in the sky

And which you
were wondering
what I
was staring at

Forgive me
They were mesmerizing
so shiny
and bright
